Morocco: Day Six

The Amazigh. They are a group of people that have a distinct history and culture in Morocco and were the main topic of discussion for today’s trip.

We left early this morning and traveled for two hours to visit rural villages where members of the Amazigh community live. In both of the villages, we visited a women’s cooperative – a place where poor women join together to create products to sell such as honey, dried herbs for tea, and handwoven scarves and rugs.

Morocco: Day Five

Our first activity today was a visit to the Souk in Sale, Rabat. The Souk is a weekly market that takes place every Thursday. In different cities this takes place on different days. To put it into context, it is like an open market where you can purchase and/or bargain for different animals, food and spices. In this market, items may be placed on the floor.
